A borehole in a generalised term for any narrow shafts drilled in the ground, which can either be vertically or horizontally. There are many different purposes for boreholes, ranging from extraction of water, part of a geotechnical investigation or environmental assessment. A borehole used as a well is completed by installing a vertical pipe and screened to keep the borehole from collapsing. A borehole used for water extraction is more commonly referred to as a well or groundwater. Groundwater is by far safer water source than surface water. Monitoring the level of a borehole can help to understand the;
- Depletion of groundwater and recovery time from drawdown
- Seasonal fluctuation in aquifer levels
- Assist with flood prevention
- Realtime reporting and regulatory compliance
- Water quality
Ashridge’s D700 is an extremely versatile hydrostatic vented submersible digital and analogue pressure transmitter that is constructed out of 316L stainless steel that is IP68 rated. The D700 offers a transducer range from 0.3 bar to 10 bar allowing for flexibility and can be configured to output in Current Loop, Voltage Out or in MODBUS. The D700 can be connected into SCADA providing a remote monitoring solution but offers the ability to have a local display for manual level inspection.
Ashridge is able to offer a full remote telemetry solution by combining the D700 with a TOR-3N (analogue) or TOR-6N (MODBUS) datalogger. Combining the D700 with a TOR-6N it allows for 2 additional MODBUS sensors to be connected such as water quality sensors. The TOR range of data loggers provides NB- IoT/LTE-M and 2G connectivity in remote scenarios. The TOR range provides 5 years of battery life in normal operating conditions but if a higher frequency of data transmissions is required, an LD6 external battery pack can be used. The stored data is transmitted via a secure route into the cloud and is viewable via Ashridge’s portal, Aquaguard. The Aquaguard portal provides the user with a platform to interrogate the data, view alarms and make remote configuration changes to the unit when required. This data can also be exported to systems such as SCADA by using the Aquaguard API.
Ashridge’s Borehole Monitoring flexible solution makes monitoring, managing and reporting a simple process.
